Export Igniter Program Announces Second Cohort
FREDERICTON – Ignite Fredericton has announced the five New Brunswick companies that will be taking part in the second cohort of its Export Igniter program beginning in January.
Export Igniter, which is Atlantic Canada’s first accelerator program to focus on exports, is designed to help export-ready companies develop a strategy for finding opportunities and navigating the complex landscape of international business.
“The program guides companies through each step required to develop an export strategy: assessing their operational readiness, refining their target market and customers, logistics, financial, legal considerations and more,” said Adam Peabody, investment attraction and growth specialist at Ignite Fredericton, in a statement Huddle.
“The first cohort of Export Igniter graduated from the program in April 2017. Since then, they have begun to implement their strategies and have gone in-market to sell their products and services. To implement their strategies they have collectively hired nine new FTE positions with various export sales responsibilities”
Over 12 weeks, participants go through workshops led by experts such as Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, Opportunities NB, Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service, Export Development Corporation, customs and logistics consultants, and more.
Each company is also paired with a mentor, a successful local exporter who provides their insights and advice. Each company is also given a team of students from the UNB’s Faculty of Business Administration who help with research and strategy.
The companies that will participate in the second cohort of Export Igniter are:
- Anointment Natural Skin Care Inc.
- Yanky Sports International Inc.
- eChart Healthcare
- WEnTech Solutions Inc.
- The Best Deodorant in the World
