Dieppe Micro Cultivator Will See Product At Cannabis NB Soon
DIEPPE — A local cannabis micro cultivator will their product on the shelves later this month thanks to the partnership with another New Brunswick cannabis company.
Golden Peak Cannabis has produced two successful crops (about 20-25 kg) that have been purchased by Shediac-based licensed producer (LP) Crystal Cure for their Farmers series, a line that highlights micro-cultivators in Canada who are too small to get their own sales and processing licenses.
Though it will be sold under the Crystal Cure banner, consumers who purchase from the Farmers series will be able to go on the company’s website and learn more about the strain’s grower and their story.
This will make Golden Peak the first New Brunswick-based micro cultivator to be able to offer its products within the province.
“There was a little bit of red tape to get through that’s almost done. By the end of February or the beginning of March, our product will be at Cannabis NB,” said Tom Devost, co-owner of Golden Peak Cannabis, in an interview with Huddle.

The strain being released is called Tiger Bomb.
“We don’t think there is anybody else that’s growing this in the country. It’s something unique. It’s a cross of menthol and MAC 69,” said Devost. “‘MAC’ is short for Miracle Alien Cookies. Those are two strains that bred together to come up with what they call Tiger Bomb.'”
Tiger Bomb will be sold in 3.5 g packages, with the possibility of some pre-rolls.
“That’s the packaging that seems to be selling the most so that’s why we decided to do it,” said Devost.
“We’re really happy with the quality and anybody who’s seen it so far has said the same, so we’re really excited to be doing something that will be popular.”
Golden Peak has been working up to this point since received its cultivation license in July 2020. Both Devost and his wife/business partner Renee Desjardins are excited to finally get their product out to consumers.
“It’s been a lot of hard work and long hours and to actually see the fruit of our labour is pretty great,” said Desjardins.
It’s kind of like a musician hearing their song on the radio for the first time,” added Devost. “It’s something we’ve been anticipating for a long time and we’re very happy to be where we are.”
Typically micro cultivators like Golden Peak would sell their cannabis wholesale through a broker; from there it could go anywhere in the country. They don’t know where their product is ending up, and the consumers who end up with it don’t know where it came from. Devost said he hopes Golden Peak’s partnership with Crystal Cure can show another way of business for micro cultivators.
“It’s something that’s not really done as far as we know much in the country and I think it’s something that could help micro cultivators out. It’s very difficult for a micro cultivator to get to market due to the size and the costs that are involved,” he said. “Teaming up with a company and an LP that already has the processing and sales license is something that can really benefit a micro.”
Devost also said he sees Golden Peak’s relationship with Crystal Cure to continue for some time, with another harvest of Tiger Bomb coming up soon.
“It’s a pretty good relationship we have going there. There are some good synergies between us both,” he said. “We’re growing another crop of Tiger Bomb, so we’re going to be continuing that crop until the market tells us otherwise.”
