David Myles Launches Video Series That Will Share His Love For Fredericton
FREDERICTON – David Myles and Fredericton Tourism are teaming up to create a series of videos highlighting tourist destinations in the city this summer.
The Juno Award-nominated singer-songwriter grew up in Fredericton and recently moved back home from Halifax with his family. Fredericton Tourism reached out to Myles to see if he would be interested in documenting some of his love for the city over the summer.
“I was posting a lot about it already, I love the city, and I was really excited to be back,” said Myles. “We started raising my family here, so I think that it was a natural fit.”
The series of brief videos will be posted on Myles’ social media channels as well as those for Fredericton Tourism and will feature Myles enjoying his favourite parts of the city.
“If you stay downtown, as a tourist, you can have an experience where you go for food, go see music, go see bands, have some great beers that are made here,” said Myles. “But then you also have the walk across the train bridge and walk along the river and then going into Odell Park or kayaking on the river here. It’s really a cool city in terms of how connected it is to the outdoors, you know, it’s like quite exceptional.”

Myles and his family made the move back to Fredericton at the same time touring slowed down during the pandemic.
Although they knew they would move to Fredericton eventually, it was while vacationing in Fredericton last year that Myles and his wife decided it was the right time to move home.
By the time their vacation ended and they returned to Halifax, they had already bought a new home and sold their old one.
“We had left for a three-week vacation in New Brunswick and by the time we came home, our house was sold and we had bought a house in Fredericton,” said Myles.
Myles posted his first video introducing the series on Thursday. In the video, he says he will be visiting some of his favourite spots around the city while also welcoming suggestions from the community.

“I thought it would make more sense if we do this organically, if I am really upfront about what the project is and what I’m trying to do, I can involve people in it,” he said. “I haven’t been here for a little while so I think that’s gonna be pretty cool.”
The videos will include looks at some natural sites, like the Nashwaak River, but will also feature restaurants and venues across the city.
“There’s gonna be a focus on music, of course, and the music scene here,” he said. “We’ll be talking about some of the venues and what happens week to week here especially as things open up.”
Coming back to Fredericton has been special for Myles, especially as he now gets to share his love of the city with his kids.
“I always knew it was a cool spot to grow up,” said Myles. “But it’s been really neat to come back after 20 years and be like, ‘wow,’ you know, there’s a lot here that that is really special and I think that sometimes we forget and just take it for granted.”
