Codiac Transpo Launches Mobile Tracking Service For Greater Moncton Buses
MONCTON – Codiac Transpo is launching new mobile service that will allow passengers in Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview to track buses in real-time and get mobile alerts, among other things.
The services are currently available on the web, as the mobile app format is in development and will be launched in the near future.
General Manager Angela Allain said in a release Monday that the “long-awaited service” is especially useful during a time when schedules and routes are modified to accommodate Covid-19 restrictions.
With the new service, passengers can sign up to subscribe to specific routes. They can then get alerts specific to that bus. They can also get news on detours, weather cancellations or get route-specific notifications.
Passengers can also plan their trip using a departure and arrival point, and the time they want to leave or arrive at a destination, to view the most efficient path.
The bus tracking feature uses a route map, and identifies the capacity and features of the specific bus, including air-conditioning and wheelchair accessibility.
While at a bus stop, passengers can text the bus stop number to 506-306-2772 to find out when the next bus will arrive.
The software used for the new service was created in partnership with TripSpark Technologies, a transportation tech company with offices in Canada and the U.S.
