A New Brunswick Clothing Brand For Beers And Bonfires
MONCTON — Adam Brown had always been interested in working with clothing, but he never found the spark until the Covid-19 pandemic hit the province last year.
On July 3, 2020, Brown launched Beers and Bonfires Apparel, a Moncton-based clothing brand dedicated to those who love and are passionate about the outdoor way of life.
“Two things that I liked, even as a young boy, was being around the campfire with family and friends, you know, everybody always having a good time,” said Brown. “It was always a great feeling and great environment, so I said, ‘you know what, I’m going to make this into something.’”
Brown said he toyed around with the idea of launching a clothing brand in the past, but it never really turned into anything significant. He said it wasn’t until most New Brunswickers were out of work due to the pandemic that it started to take shape.
Once he settled on Beers and Bonfires, Brown spent a lot of time designing the logo to put on the clothing because he wanted to ensure it would be something folks like him would enjoy. He also wanted to make sure the brand would be visually recognizable.
While he admits it was a bit of a learning process, Brown says it’s exciting to learn every new step and see what comes next.
“Once I got the design that I wanted and liked and that I thought people would connect with, I said, ‘all right, let’s throw it on the clothes and see how it turns out,” he said. “As soon as I put some clothing out, people said, ‘oh, I like that, I want that.’”
Brown designs the clothing to be unisex and true to size. Selling through the company’s Facebook page, customers can purchase items like hoodies, t-shirts, ballcaps, tank tops and even face masks. According to Brown, it isn’t just one demographic snatching up the threads.
“These ages [range] from 19 and 20-year-olds right up to people that are in their 70s and 80s,” said Brown. “I’ve met up with all these people and had conversations with them, so it’s a great feeling being able to connect with people that are interested in what you love.”
After celebrating the company’s one-year anniversary last month, Brown said he’s now in the process of building a website. He’s also proud of the success and growth he has seen since launching, despite all of his sales being through word of mouth.
“I’m overwhelmed with the response,” said Brown. “I’ve met a lot of people and I’ve sold a lot of merch to people that are like-minded with myself … and I just know there will be more growth to come.”
“It’s more than clothing; it’s a connection to all those good times that you had out around the bonfire with either friends or family.”
