Worker Dies After an Accident at Irving Oil HQ Construction Site
SAINT JOHN – Christopher (Adam) Carleton, an employee working for a sub-contractor, has died after a workplace accident at the new Irving Oil headquarters at 10 Sydney Street in Saint John on Monday, WorkSafeNB has confirmed.
The worker fell at about 1:25 p.m. Monday and later died in hospital from their injuries.
In accordance with both the Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (RTIPPA) and the Personal Health Information Privacy and Access Act (PHIPPA), WorkSafeNB will not be disclosing the name of the worker or details regarding their death.
WorkSafeNB issued a stop-work order not to disturb the scene and investigators remain on site as of Tuesday.
The organization says the investigation helps them determine how the fatality may have been prevented and whether there were any violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act or its regulations.
Irving Oil posted two statements on Twitter early Tuesday evening.

WorkSafeNB stated that it expresses its sincere condolences to the worker’s family, friends and co-workers.
