WestJet Expanding Service in Fredericton
FREDERICTON–WestJet announced on Monday plans to expand their operations in Fredericton. The news comes less than a year after they first started operating out of the Fredericton International Airport.
From March 5 onward, WestJet will increase its daily flights between Fredericton and Toronto from twice daily to three times daily. This change will offer more flexibility for same-day return trips and connecting flights.
WestJet service was originally launched in Fredericton on April. 15 of last year. Johanna Gallant, president and CEO of the Fredericton International Airport Authority says that expanding service so soon after starting is an indicator of the strength of the Fredericton market for WestJet.
“Our business community has told us that they need those connections to the full WestJet networks,” Gallant said. “The timing of these flights is ideal for travellers going to destinations throughout North America.”
“It’s always a great day when we can offer our guests more options in their travel schedules,” said WestJet Executive vice-president, commercial Bob Cummings. “Fredericton is a key market for WestJet and we are confident that the enhanced schedule will be welcomed by business and leisure travellers alike.”
This announcement means an even greater need for the proposed YFC expansion, plans for which are now nearing completion.
