The UNB program combines industry mentorship with classroom style programming. The goal is to take the companies through every aspect of launching a startup and graduate them ready for further investment.
The province is contributing $10 million to Build Ventures, Atlantic Canada’s largest venture capital fund. The Halifax-based firm invests in startup technology companies in the Maritimes.
Startups raised $73.3-million in 2016 from venture capital, strategic and angel investors – up from $55.5-million in 2015.
Report says venture capital firms invested $31.04-million in N.B. companies in 2016 and publicly traded companies raised $103-million.
