MP Hints At Major Funding Announcement In Coming Weeks For Saint John Museum

The original plan was to construct a new $50-million facility on the Saint John waterfront, but the Higgs government pulled funding for that project in 2018
Bernie Riordon has been named transitional CEO for the NB Museum and will be working with its board and the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture to maintain its collection and also address some of the museum’s long-standing facilities issues.
The company says an expanded and renovated museum in its current location would cost much less than previous proposals to build a new museum.
The provincial government, which has already committed $50-million to the project, will now look to the federal government for financial assistance.
The provincial government hopes to begin site preparation in the spring of 2018.
