Saint John Restaurateur and Top Chef Canada Alum to Compete Again
Saint John chef and restaurant owner Jesse Vergen is slated to appear in Top Chef Canada’s return after its nearly three-year hiatus for an all-star season.
Since achieving fourth place in Top Chef Canada’s fourth season, Vergen has continued his successful career on the East Coast as chef and co-owner of Saint John Alehouse, Smoking Pig BBQ, Toro Taco, Barred Rock Fried Chicken and McGills.
The upcoming season of Top Chef Canada will premiere April 2 and bring back 12 of the most accomplished chefs from the past four seasons to battle it out for a $100,000 grand prize and Monogram Kitchen valued at over $25,000.
Each week, chefs will compete in the new Top Chef Canada Monogram kitchen and in a variety of other locations to battle it out in grueling culinary challenges.
The fifth season, Top Chef Canada: All-Stars, will bring back head judge, chef and restaurateur Mark McEwan who will be joined by a panel of what Food Network is calling “Canada’s most refined palates.” The panel will include new host Eden Grinshpan and three new expert resident judges: food blogger Mijune Pak, restaurant critic Chris Nuttall-Smith and restaurateur Janet Zuccarini.
