Quebec’s Pür & Simple Expands To Atlantic Canada With Moncton Restaurant
MONCTON – Residents of the Hub City who love a hearty breakfast will soon have a new spot to indulge in crepes, waffles, smoothies and the like.
Pür & Simple, based in Laval, Quebec, will open its first Atlantic Canadian restaurant at the former Big League Burgers & Wings location on 1909 Mountain Road. It will have around 100 seats in a 3,600-square-foot space.
Christian Martin, the company’s area developer for Atlantic Canada, said Moncton’s hub status provides opportunity for the business.
“We think that Moncton is central – there’s a lot of things people go to Moncton for, tournaments, events, you name it. So that’s why we pushed at the beginning to open Moncton. We were aiming for either Moncton or Halifax, but in Moncton, we found a franchisee very fast and we have a good spot.”
Martin said Pür & Simple will be competing against restaurants like Cora. For breakfast, it will serve french toast, omelettes and eggs benedict, among others. While burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads and entrees like chicken skillet will be on the menu for lunch. It also offers smoothies, specialty coffees and fruit juices.
Pür & Simple plans to open 15 locations in Atlantic Canada in the future, Martin said.
The Laval company has been franchising over the last six months. The franchisee in Moncton is local businessman Ganesh Kommisetti.
Four locations are set to open in Quebec this year, as well as one each in Fredericton, Edmundston and Halifax, according to the company’s website. It also has plans to open one restaurant in Toronto and another in Boston, Mass.
“We don’t want to go out west right now. If we have the perfect partner we would go out west for sure,” Martin said.
“But I honestly think that Atlantic Canada is a very good place to start a brand like this because there’s less competition, I would say. Our goal is to expand coast to coast.”
The Moncton restaurant is set to open on March 27. It will open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day.
