New Shop Bringing New ‘Vibes’ to Uptown Saint John
SAINT JOHN –Women of all ages and sizes will soon have a new place to shop in uptown Saint John.
UpTown Vibes 571, a women’s clothing shop based in Sussex, has announced that it will be opening a second location on 80-2 Prince William Street.
Store Owner Deanne MacBurnie says the shop tries to offer something for every woman.
“We have everything casual right up to dressy, things that you could wear to weddings or parties, that type of thing. We have a various age range, from early 20s and up. We also have different size ranges from extra small through XXXL. We try to cater to everybody’s size and everybody’s age group. We’re just expanding out inventory as we move along.”
UpTown Vibes’s only opened in Sussex just over a year-and-a-half ago. MacBurnie says opening a shop in Saint John was always in the back of her mind, but when she saw that the 80 Prince William Street location was available, she decided to jump at the opportunity.
“It was definitely the location and the time of year too. If we waited until September, then you miss out on the summer season. I thought this would give us a good boost to get started where it is a high-traffic time of year,” she says. “It seems like if we would have passed up on that, it probably would have been swept up by someone else and then you’d probably never get in again probably for years.”
The Saint John store will be very similar to the one in Sussex, carrying clothing mostly from Canadian suppliers. But since there are a lot of people who work uptown, MacBurnie says they are going to expand on their professional attire.
“Where there are so many offices uptown in Saint John, we will probably be carrying more business attire. Blazers, dress pants, skirts, those types of things. Although, we will still carry what we have here as well.”
Renovations are underway at 80-2 Prince William Street, with plans to open the shop during the first week of July. MacBurnie says she hopes UpTown Vibes will add to the variety of clothing retail stores in uptown Saint John.
“We cater to all types of people. We’re hoping to suit everybody’s tastes and we’ll just gradually build on our suppliers as we see fit.”
