New Brunswick’s Unemployment Rate Drops
FREDERICTON–New Brunswick’s unemployment rate dropped to 10.1 per cent in August, compared to 11 per cent in July according to data released today by Statistics Canada. The national unemployment rate was 7.0 per cent in August.
The unemployment rate in Moncton fell to 5.7 per cent (compared to 6.1 percent in July) while Saint John saw its rate increase slightly to 8.7 per cent (compared to 8.2 per cent in July).
Nova Scotia’s rate increased to 8.4 per cent, while PEI saw a drop to 10.8 and Newfoundland and Labrador’s rate dropped slightly to 11.5 per cent. The unemployment rate in Halifax dropped to 5.7 per cent in August, compared to 6.1 per cent in July.
