New Brunswick Unemployment Down, a Little
SAINT JOHN – Though Canada’s national unemployment rate was 7.1 per cent in November, New Brunswick’s is still above the national average.
However, the province did see some improvement.
In November, New Brunswick’s unemployment rate was 8.7 per cent, which was down from 9.0 in October according to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada.
When it comes to individual cities, Saint John’s unemployment rate was 7.3 per cent, down from 7.7 per cent. Moncton was at 5.8 per cent, down from 6.2 in October.
The other two Maritime provinces saw their rates rise. Nova Scotia’s unemployment rate was at 8.6 per cent in November, up from 7.8 per cent in October. Prince Edward Island was at 10.4 per cent, up from 9.9 per cent in October.
Though the change is numbers seems positive for New Brunswick, Statistics Canada cautions the figures may fluctuate widely because they are based on small statistical samples.
