NB Power, Private-Sector Partners Open Five More Electric-Car Charging Stations
FREDERICTON – Five more electric-vehicle charging stations along the Trans-Canada Highway will be commissioned by Friday, as part of the eCharge Network being established by NB Power and private-sector partners.
On Wednesday, the Johnson’s Guardian charging station in Perth-Andover was commissioned. On Thursday, it was the Edmundston Truck Stop, along with the Youngs Cove Irving Oil station and the Irving Oil Salisbury Big Stop. On Friday the Irving Oil Aulac Big Stop will be commissioned.
At all of these locations, electric vehicle drivers can recharge their batteries up to 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes.
The eCharge Network’s fast-charging corridor along the Trans-Canada Highway will include 10 stations spaced 65 kilometres apart along the province’s busiest highway, where both fast-charging stations and standard level-2 stations will be available by early August.
Natural Resources Canada provided $500,000 to help purchase and install the charging stations.
The first fast-charging charging station opened earlier this month at the Irving Oil Lincoln Big Stop.
