Moncton Ranked 11th Most Entrepreneurial Community in Canada
MONCTON – The Hub City has been ranked the 11th most entrepreneurial community in Canada according to the Financial Post, dropping from last year’s 10th spot.
In a story published Monday called “From Kelowna to Collingwood: Here’s FP’s annual ranking of the top entrepreneurial cities in Canada,” the Financial Post used the latest numbers from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) to compile the list. Moncton placed 11th in “large city” category and was the only Atlantic Canadian city to make the top 20. Saint John placed 33rd, the same as last year. Mirimichi placed 84th in the “smaller city” category while Bathurst placed 97th. Fredericton placed 103rd.
CFIB’s ninth annual Entrepreneurial Communities report released Monday also ranked Moncton in 7th place in the major city category for “entrepreneurial perspective.”
The report comes at the beginning of Small Business Week in Canada and takes an in-depth look at how 121 cities and economic regions support and promote entrepreneurship. It scores each of them out of 100, examining 14 indicators across three main categories – presence, perspective and policy.
