Luigi Benedicenti Named Dean of Computer Science at UNB
FREDERICTON– The University of New Brunswick has a new man in charge of its computer science department.
On Wednesday the university announced Luigi Benedicenti will soon be joining the department.
Benedicenti is currently professor and program chair at the University of Regina. He has previously held positions as associate vice-president academic and associate dean of engineering at Regina. He is a Fellow of Engineers Canada and a member of the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board. His teaching and research interests include software engineering, augmented reality for assistance providers, and virtual reality for scientific visualization and simulation.
“Not only is Luigi an internationally renowned expert in – among other areas – software systems and new media technology, he is also deeply committed to excellence in the classroom and collaborative decision-making,” said George MacLean, UNB’s vice-president academic on the Fredericton campus in a release. “UNB is fortunate to have him join us as a colleague.”
Benedicenti’s five-year term as dean begins on July 1, 2017.
