The Government of New Brunswick (GNB) is searching for the next generation of public problem solvers as part of the Public Innovation Internship Program.
Two successful applicants will be hired for the 2018 summer term, from the beginning of May to the end of August.
Looking for more flexibility? Great! GNB is also looking to fill 3 or more positions through a one year term with the possibility of an additional year extension. We really do have something for everyone!

Your number one responsibility is to be a driver for innovation and bring a passion for problem-solving. You’ll be thinking outside the box and ready to make an impact.
Together with the team, you will help create a culture of innovation within GNB and bring exciting new perspectives while contributing to developing systems thinking, citizen engagement, open data, human-centered design, and experimentation.
During orientation, you will participate in an initial series of workshops to learn about how the government works, how to foster an inclusive work culture and innovative tools for problem-solving. You will be assigned a mentor in your department, who will help guide you through the projects you will be working on.

Your workload will be project based, and you’ll need to be eager to manage your deliverables while balancing your priorities.
The work environment will bring exciting new challenges, and you’ll be engaged in finding the best ways to provide value to the projects and teams with whom you’ll be working. Excitingly, you’ll also have few typical days, as the new challenges brought to the table will require agility and adaptability.
You bring the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You have the kind of personality that is always striving for change and impact.
You possess an eagerness to excel both independently and as part of a group. You are a curious, life-long learner (more concerned about “getting it right”, than “being right”). You recognize the risks inherent in maintaining the status quo.
You need to:
- Be returning to school at a New Brunswick university or college in the fall.
- Bilingualism is considered an asset.
- Demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities.
You should be able to demonstrate:
- Ability to work well in a team.
- Evidence of creative thinking in problem solving.
- Capacity for independent work and initiative.
