Greater Moncton Airport Wants To Commercialize Surrounding Land
DIEPPE – The Greater Moncton International Airport Authority Inc. (GMIAA) said it’s looking for firms, developers and institutions to turn nine blocks of lands into automotive, hotels, service stations, and general commercial and industrial businesses.
“We have a number of highly desirable properties for which we are seeking development partners,” said CEO Bernard LeBlanc in a release.
“We are one of southeastern New Brunswick’s major economic drivers, therefore the areas immediately surrounding the Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport are prime locations for successful business ventures, especially related to cargo and transportation. With that said, we are open to any and all ideas and concepts from developers.”
Some of the land parcels available for the development have frontage along Aviation Avenue in Dieppe. Other lands for priority development are located at the exit with Highway 15. Their direct road frontage, proximity to the airport, and highway visibility and accessibility mean they’re the most likely to attract commercial interest. This makes them the top priority for development.
Qualified firms or joint ventures must show competence, experience and thorough knowledge of commercial real estate development, the GMIAA said. The would include knowledge and experience in project development and oversight, financing, marketing, design, leasing and management.
“We encourage respondents to prepare and submit innovative development ideas and conceptual business approaches for these sites,” said Glen Rollins, Director of Airport Commercial Development, in the release.
“We are looking for respondents with the capacity to submit high-quality conceptual design responses. The successful respondents will address urban design, land-use mix, business case, and partnership options.”
The GMIAA posted expression of interest (EOI) documents on its website for the leased land it controls around the airport. The deadline to file the EOIs is May 10.
The Greater Moncton Romeo LeBlanc International Airport drives more than $665-million of economic activity a year in the region. It’s a member of the Vantage Airport Group.
