Fredericton’s Reimagine Designs Getting a New Space of Its Own
Mallory Lennon believes in serious design. Not the pillow-fluffing, eye for pretty things kind, but the nitty-gritty, down to business kind.
Two years into her design business, Reimagine Designs, Lennon is focused on providing design services by accredited professionals to both commercial and residential clients. Her business is responsible for numerous eye-catching projects, having been featured in publications like East Coast Living and Style at Home, and is now growing to incorporate a new space of its own.
A new design studio and retail showroom space are in the works for Reimagine Designs, a space Lennon is aiming to open on Queen Street in June that’s been spurred by the success of their online store launched last August.
“How we’re going to differentiate with our space versus just another showroom is because the designers that I do and will have on staff, we are accredited designers,” Lennon says. “It’s one thing to call yourself a designer and [another to] actually be accredited and gone through school.”
Lennon says the new showroom space will feature everything from millwork, cabinetry and hardware to tiles and flooring. She says it’s meant to be a one-stop shop for design right through to furnishings and accessories.
Lennon has built a name for Reimagine Designs around Fredericton and beyond. She’s worked on projects that have allowed her not only to meet clients’ needs but incorporate her vision. She says much of their commercial work has given the business the attention that comes from working with other well-known businesses in the community like Blonde Salon, TrailWay Brewing and Uptown Chiropractic. She says residential projects can also draw attention on social media platforms.
“Every client’s needs are different. Everybody has a style as well. It’s always nice when they’re open and I certainly try to push them as much as I can. There’s a reason they’ve come to a designer. They want to step outside the box so I do try to push those boundaries always but I also am there to listen to the client,” Lennon says.
“I’m not selfish in the way where it needs to be only what I see and that’s it. I really am there to understand their needs, the function of what they need that space for and design around those parameters.”
Lennon says with businesses, the work her studio does is often not just about creating a space for them but helping to build their brands as well. While other accredited designers in town might focus more on government or institutional projects, Reimagine Designs sets itself apart by often working with small to medium size businesses but still taking those clients through the full design process.
Lennon says she finds inspiration everywhere, often from being challenged by the requirements of clients.
“I think [it’s] just [about] trying to find inspiration, whether it’s from the clients, whether it’s the brand I’m working with as well, really digging deep there. But then [I’m inspired by] everything from Pinterest to Instagram, which is awesome. I love visuals. That’s me.”
