Fredericton’s Owl’s Nest Bookstore Closing After 26 Years
FREDERICTON– A beloved bookstore in downtown Fredericton is closing its doors after 26 years in business.
The Owl’s Nest Bookstore, located on 390 Queen Street, announced late Thursday afternoon via a Facebook post that September 30 will be its last day of business.
“For years there have been rumours that the Owl’s Nest Bookstore was closing, and everytime a rumour popped up another bookstore would close,” the Facebook post reads. “Now sadly, it is our turn.”
The Owl’s Nest opened in 1992. It specializes in used books and is considered one of the largest used books stores in Atlantic Canada.
The post goes on to say that those with remaining credit at the store have until September 30 to use it up.
“Our story has come to an end,” the post concludes. “We would like to thank all of you for your patronage, most of you for your good humour, some of you for your lippiness, and a few of you for your friendship.”
