Fredericton Chamber Announces Nominees for Business Excellence Awards
FREDERICTON– The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce has announced the finalists for its 2017 Business Excellence Awards.
Paul Simmonds, chair of the selection committee, said their many businesses are thriving in a challenging economic climate.
“Over the past year there have been many challenges for businesses not only in the Fredericton region but across the country,” said Simmonds, owner of Robert Simmonds Clothing, in a news release. “But it is important to recognize that there are great things happening within Fredericton’s business community and we look forward to celebrating these passionate entrepreneurs and local businesses every year.”
In addition to the finalists in the award’s seven categories, the awards selection committee has chosen Platinum Salon & Spa as the 2017 recipient of the Spacek, Armstrong and Norrad Chartered Professional Accountants Resilience Award. This award recognizes a business that has overcome a major challenge that was not exclusively financial in nature.
“Platinum Salon & Spa is a wonderful story of businesses and entrepreneurs working together to collectively make a difficult situation work,” said Krista Ross, Fredericton chamber CEO. “Entrepreneurs are fiercely independent, so the idea that three separate owners could come together to make a single, larger business is truly remarkable.”
