Facebook’s Brilliant Interview Question
Lots of people want to work at Facebook.
The social media site, with over one-billion users around the world, has 16,000 employees. It’s seen as a smart, progressive place to work. But finding top talent is still a challenge for the company.
Facebook’s global head of recruiting Miranda Kalinowski told Business Insider that she has a favourite question to find people with the right fit for the company:
“On your very best day at work — the day you come home and think you have the best job in the world — what did you do that day?”
That’s a lot better than the old interview standby, ‘What’s your biggest weakness?’ which is inevitably followed by something like ‘Well, I’m a workaholic’ or ‘Sometimes I worry that I care about the company too much.’
That’s doesn’t tell an interviewer much, except a candidate’s familiarity with cliches,
Rather Facebook’s question seeks to find out what a potential Facebooker is really passionate about, and if that matches what the company wants in an employee.
How would you answer this question in your job today? It does make a person think…
