Discover Saint John Appoints New Chair
SAINT JOHN – Saint John’s official destination marketing organization has appointed a new chair.
On Wednesday Discover Saint John announced Glenda MacLean will be the new chair of its board of directors.
MacLean currently manages Hilton Saint John and the adjacent Saint John Trade and Convention Centre.
Discover Saint John says MacLean has over 25 year experience in hotel management experience through which she has gained operations, finance, human resources, sales and marketing skills.
“Glenda’s experience spans a wide range of hotel brands including IHG, Wyndham, Marriott and Hilton Worldwide; as well as owning her own inn for eight years. Glenda’s career has taken her to six provinces and she actively worked on the Destination Marketing file in both Ottawa and St. John’s before returning to Saint John in 2007,” said Discover Saint John, in a release. “Since her return, Glenda has enjoyed being part of the growth and development of the hospitality industry in Saint John and the impact this has had on the city.”
Discover Saint John is a not-for-profit public-private corporation with the mandate of promoting tourism for the Saint John Region. In addition to tourism promotion, Saint John Destination Marketing Inc. provides staff and management directly for visitor information centres in Saint John. It’s board consists of with 5 appointees from the City of Saint John, 2 members of the Hotel Association, and 4 members appointed as industry representatives.
“Discover Saint John would also like to express our thanks to our outgoing-chair, Allison Fraser, for her years on the board of Discover Saint John,” the release said. “Allison has volunteered her time and energy to help advance the organization over the past four years and she will be missed.”
