The Job

We are looking for a Senior Data Warehouse Architect to assist with our Microsoft BI Data warehouse projects.

This individual must be a strong data architect (modeler), focused on assessing our clients’ environment and requirements with the ability to design a Microsoft Data Warehouse architecture in alignment with Microsoft BI best practices to support a full Data Warehouse implementation. The design will involve conceptual, logical and physical data modeling.

This position will work closely with clients and end-users to examine existing processes and develop automated solutions, including specifying program and data flows.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct client assessment engagements to document requirements, points of pain, gaps and other business and technical input that will support recommendations and a future state Microsoft Azure BI Architecture.

Lead activities around data analysis, data profiling, data extraction (validation and transformation rules) and integration of data from multiple disparate sources into a robust and scalable data model.

Provide leadership for ensuring data quality and integrity.

Design and deliver a solutions architecture based on the Microsoft BI technology stack, specifically:

Microsoft SQL Server architecture and development

Experience with DAX development

SSAS cubes using DAX and MDX

SSIS, T-SQL, Stored Procedures, or other ETL tools


Work with business users and business analysts to gather requirements in different forms including: interviews, facilitated sessions and documented data structures.

Act as technical lead to assess clients’ current state environment and offer estimates and recommendations for improvement.

Provide data warehouse and business intelligence subject matter expertise and leadership, including leadership to the project team. The project team most often includes business analysts, ETL and BI report developers.

Direct responsibility of managing the implementation team.

Provide data analysis and data modeling expertise.

Transform business requirements into functional data warehouse design requirements, including the data warehouse data model (logical and physical).



The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Strong knowledge and hands on experience developing data warehouse data models, including, a strong, proven track record of relational and dimensional modeling.

Previous experience with SQL Server 2014/2016 is required.

Hands on experience with T-SQL and SSIS/SSAS is required.

MDX, PowerBI experience required.

Azure knowledge an asset.

Detail oriented with excellent organization and analytical skills.

Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, project team members, supervisors, and employees from other departments.

Bachelor s degree in computer science, information system, computer engineering or equivalent working experience is required.

8+ years hands on working experience in data modeling, including 5+ years experience as a lead data warehouse architect.

5+ years experience in implementing BI tools.
