Construction on New Irving Oil HQ Begins
SAINT JOHN – After a period of uncertainty, construction on new Irving Oil headquarters in uptown Saint John has begun.
Located on King’s Square South beside the Imperial Theatre, the new HQ will consolidate about 1000 of Irving Oil’s Saint John employees who are currently scattered throughout five offices in the city.
“We sincerely appreciate all the support and encouragement we’ve received from the community on this important project,” said Sarah Irving, executive vice-president of Irving Oil, in a release. “It has meant a lot to everyone at our company. We are proud to have our head office in Saint John, New Brunswick.”
The new building is expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete. The company says around 200 tradespeople will employed during the construction. This will be the first major development of its kind in uptown Saint John in more than 25 years.
“Our new home office project is an investment in our community and an investment in our people,” said Irving Oil president Ian Whitcomb. “As our company continues to grow in a very competitive industry, it become more and more important for our people to be able to work together in a modern and collaborative work environment. Our people are our greatest asset, and our new home will help all our people do even more.”
