Area 506 Announces 2018 Lineup
SAINT JOHN– The Area 506 Festival has announced the lineup for its third annual event.
Organizers announced Thursday that Arkells, July Talk, Big Wreck, The New Pornographers, The Glorious Sons and others will take the stage throughout the festival being held from Friday, August 3 until Monday, August 6 at Long Wharf in Saint John.
“We’ve had two great years so far, but really it’s only driven us to push harder to create an event that makes the people of New Brunswick proud of where they live” said Ray Gracewood, chairman of the Area 506 committee, in a release.
“We’ve had a great time developing the event for this year and we’re incredibly excited to announce the details so that people can book the time and set their schedules for the New Brunswick day long weekend.”
Saturday’s Main Stage lineup includes headliners July Talk, The New Pornographers, Whitehorse, Reuben in the Dark, Moncton legends The Monoxides, Brent Mason Band, The Tortoise the Hare & the Millionaire and the Kendra Gale Band.
Sunday’s Main Stage lineup includes headliners Arkells, supported by Big Wreck, The Glorious Sons, Les Hôtesses d’Hilaire, Tomato/Tomato, Fredericton’s Olympic Symphonium, Tampa, and Kill Chicago.
The festival will once again include its popular shipping container village featuring New Brunswick products and brands. Similar to past years, the event will begin with an open-air pre-registration event on Friday, August 3 featuring a surprise lineup of New Brunswick talent.
Last year’s event drew more than 50,000 people to the waterfront, a boost for businesses in the city centre says event sponsor Discover Saint John.
“Discover Saint John loves partnering with the AREA 506 Festival to offer a one-of-a-kind celebration of New Brunswick on our city’s waterfront. Each year the fear of missing out gets bigger and we couldn’t be happier,” said Victoria Clarke, Executive Director, Discover Saint John. “Hotels, stores, bars and restaurants will reap the economic benefits of another tremendous festival in 2018.”
Pre-Early Bird weekend passes go on sale at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 5 on the festival’s website.
