SAINT JOHN–Acadia Broadcasting will acquire Yarmouth, Nova Scotia’s CJLS from its owners Chris Perry and Ray Zinck. The station was founded in 1934 and was one of the few independent broadcasters left in the province.
The acquisition requires approval from the CRTC, something expected within the next few months. Terms of the deal were not released.
Acadia Broadcasting also owns CJBW and CJHK, both broadcasting from Bridgewater on the South Shore. With CJLS, the company will be able to offer radio coverage from Digby to Bridgewater.
Saint John-based Acadia Broadcasting also owns a number of stations in Moncton and Saint John, as well as in Kenora, Thunder Bay and Fort Frances in Ontario.
